On Thursday 5th November 2009, the Darley
Abbey Branch of The Royal British Legion were assisted with their Poppy
Appeal by soldiers from the 2nd
Battalion, The Mercian Regiment (Worcesters and Foresters).
Privates Derion Jess and Michael Nugent were on hand
to help the members of the Branch sell poppies to the shoppers in
the entrance of Morrisons Store at the Meteor Centre,
Wheatcroft Way,
Derby DE21 4RY.

Reports are that the collection in the store is doing very well, but the
amount collected will not be known until the all tins have been opened and
the contents counted.
Later in the evening a presentation to the
2nd Battalion, The Mercian Regiment took
