Poppy Appeal Launch 2009

The Derbyshire County  Poppy Appeal Launch for 2009 took place at the City Council House on Friday 23rd October 2009. The launch was performed by the Mayor of Derby - Councillor Sean Marshall when he bought the first poppy from Christine Selden (Community Fundraiser) and Colin Picken (County Poppy Appeal Co-ordinator) on the main staircase of the Council House.

Support for this years Poppy Appeal has been given by lightingderby, this is a partnership between Balfour Beatty Power Networks and Derby City Council to replace and maintain the street lighting in the City. As part of their support they have placed Lorry Poppies on some of the lamp standards around the City centre.

Responsibility for putting the Lorry Poppies on to the lamp standards was with Sue Chetwyn and Nick Perry both of lightingderby.
